What is a Media Kit?
A media kit (also called a press kit) is a clear, concise document or PDF that introduces you and your work. It’s typically shared with journalists, bloggers, galleries, event organisers, or potential collaborators who might want to feature or work with you.
Think of it as your creative CV—only prettier, more visual, and more persuasive.
Why Do You Need One?
- Shows that you take your creative work seriously.
- Makes it easier for others to feature or promote you.
- Saves you time—you won’t have to rewrite the same bio or dig for your links every time someone asks.
- Helps you clarify your own brand and goals.
If you’ve ever said, “I don’t know what to send them,” a media kit is the answer.
What Should It Include?
- Your Bio: A short paragraph (100–150 words) plus an optional longer version.
- Professional Photo or Headshot: Clear, authentic, and well-lit.
- Artist Statement or Creative Mission: Explain what drives your work.
- Selected Works or Portfolio Highlights: 3–5 examples or links to your best pieces.
- Press Mentions or Testimonials: Add any coverage or kind words from others.
- Social Media & Website Links: Include all your relevant profiles.
- Contact Information: Make it easy for people to reach you.
Optional Extras:
- Upcoming exhibitions or events
- Past collaborations
- Social stats if they’re impressive
