The word “abstract” sounds so modern, but actually its first known use was dated back in the 14th century, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Etymologically it originates from the combination of the Latin root ab-, (“from” or “away,”) and the verb trahere, (“to pull” or “to draw”).
Abstract art takes out the elements that are an accurate representation of reality and is freely expressed with creativity by using shapes and patterns, lines and colors, value and texture. The freedom that characterise it is given not only to the artist but also to the viewer who can offer his own personal interpretation.
Wassily Kandinsky was the first artist creating an abstract composition in 1913. Since then this thought provoking style has become always more popular and nowadays many artists will have in their portfolio a collection of modern abstract works. Provocative and surprising, mysterious or playful, they stimulate our curiosity and imagination. They are perfect as a contemporary interior design for offices and other public settings but they are also in great demand in modern homes.
I would be happy if you would like to have a look at my collection of designs featuring abstract shapes and patterns in many colors, this is the link from my site https://lucia-waterson.pixels.com/collections/creative+abstracts
