Kathy From KeppenArt Background
My first blog post was posted on my Fine Art America site on December 31, 2013. At first I posted every few months that read like a seasonal diary.
My posts were mixed with announcements about my artwork as well as what was happening in my personal life and the world around me.
Seasons were used as a starting point for many of those early writings with titles such as Fall Fell, Spring Has Not Sprung, Summer Came And Went and Windy Winters to name a few. Those posts were filled with how I felt about what was happening in my personal life during and after my Mother’s final days on earth.
Starting in early 2021 Abbie Shores, owner of the online magazine Our Arts Magazine, graciously provided space on that site as a home for my blogs posts. After the first few posts I decided as a matter of discipline that my blog entries would be posted weekly instead of seasonally or haphazardly.
About that same time my blog entries took a more marketing tone. It had been advised by more successful artists that writing a blog about your work would be more productive professionally than writing about your personal life.
It’s understandable how tying your writing in with your artwork can be productive, however, writing about your personal life allows others to learn who you are as a person as well as who you are as an artist. This can also be professionally productive if your customers are people who like to purchase from people they know, like or with whom they share similar beliefs and interests.
This past week, on a personal note, was full of memories, emotions and conflict. A planned vacation was cancelled due to a weather disaster in that area. To say I was disappointed is an understatement since I was looking forward to visiting with dear friends who live in other states. On a professional note, my weekly challenge image was created and posted in spite of the many distractions and disappointments.
Wildfires out west (USA), catastrophic winds and floods in the southeast and a hurricane coming ashore in Florida as I am writing this blog post has made for an emotionally stressful few weeks.
However, stressed or not, I know that I am blessed with a place to live, electricity, running water and good weather. More importantly there are people who love me, care about what happens to me and people who encourage me and lift my spirits.
May each of you reading this have a productive week ahead in the way of giving and receiving love and encouragement, and appreciate any and all blessings in your life.
Until next time,
Kathy From KeppenArt
