Abbie ShoresParticipant::I also work full time, write constantly, plus trying to finish my fourth book 😔. I rarely get time to get to…. Well anywhere much. I’m so lucky we have a national trust property about 10 mins away by car, so I’m actually off there shortly for an hour to unwind before I go to the other site 😎

That sounds absolutely incredible, John. Alaska must have been a photographer’s dream with those dramatic fjords and vast open spaces, let alone the wildlife! I love that you’ve managed to experience it more than once; it clearly left quite a mark on you.
For me, one of my favourite photography destinations is our local national park. It’s not as far-flung, but it has the same effect of leaving me inspired long after I’ve left.
I’m really looking forward to seeing your follow-up post with the Alaskan wildlife, what an adventure that must have been.

I have seen some of your work, Dave. Really nice! You have quite a romantic soul in there

Abbie ShoresParticipant::I love that way of looking at it, Hugh. Blankness not as absence but as possibility. That sense of potential—whether it’s a kitchen, a canvas, or even a patch of darkness in the woods—really does spark the imagination.

That was the moment, I knew I finally found my niche. About time after all those years! So yes, this image still matters. (click on it to “unsquare” it)
I have never been there, but I have seen movies. This reminds me of them

Abbie ShoresParticipant::On Hugh saidI got my first digital camera early in 2012, and this is the first result with it (in February) where I think I really ‘hit’ my style, isolating the subject from too much distraction, and managing to find some interesting light to bring it to life. Certainly not my best ever photo, but heading in the right direction.Line Up
