Ladders

A Blank Verse Poem (no rhyme but with a rhythm or meter) based on OAM’s Writing Skills Task #1203 for Feb. 11, 2021.

Ladders

I saw the ladders there on the concrete.
I saw them stacked upon one another.
The ladders were made of aluminum.
The rungs were placed at equal intervals.

There were grips on the ends of the ladders.
Those grips kept them steady when put in place.
They were not in use or even needed.
At least not at that particular time.

There were two parts to the longest ladder.
Put together and extended with rope.
The shorter of the two ladders was there.
It was under the longer of the two.

Two ladders there on the concrete that day.
Awaiting a job when they would be used.
I saw the ladders there on the concrete
I saw them stacked upon one another.

If someone adds a ladder it throws it all out…
