Life Unfurls
A gorgeous floral arrangement was delivered to my home this week providing the perfect opportunity to photograph blossoms in various stages of blooming. I used a close up photograph that I took of a lily blossom unfurling as my weekly challenge image.
That image presented another opportunity to think about how life also unfurls.
Last week’s blog post was titled Winter’s Cold. As spring is quickly approaching, this week’s blog post features a spring flower.
From one season to the next. That’s how life unfurls on the calendar.
But isn’t the weather associated with those seasons sometimes interspersed? One day it’s nearly 80 degrees and two days later our lawns and roads are covered with inches of snow!
What about our emotional or spiritual life?
Do our lives transition in an orderly manner, growing from immaturity to maturity or do they ebb and flow from one stage to the next and sometimes back to the former stage again?
Do you know how you will feel tomorrow based on how you feel today?
Yes?
No?
Maybe?
Here’s what I know: during a dark, depressed state nearing the end of a cold and dreary winter a beautiful floral arrangement arrived with a thoughtful note attached. My depression did not magically go away but my spirit was definitely lifted that day as well as the next several days as I watched and photographed those flowers opening up.
As the flowers rose above a glass vase, my lost hope for the future rose above my depression.
Life unfurled in front of me when those petals unfurled to produce a gorgeous flower and a glimmer of hope.
