Judy did not know what she would do next. Her landlord had agreed to pay her to decorate the old apartment. She had recently been laid off from her day job and that money was going to hold her over for the next few months while she looked for work. Every cent she had in savings was spent on paint, wallpaper and curtains for the apartment. She couldn’t believe her ears when the landlord told her he had experienced a sudden hardship and would not be paying her anything. He said he couldn’t even reimburse her for the materials.
