Atomising bodies, movement, film, sound and light into miniature shards of intense sensation, Atomos is a work by cutting-edge contemporary choreographer Wayne McGregor, which tours to Worthing’s Connaught Theatre on Tuesday 6th February.
Known for his unique, tenacious questioning across the interface of art and science and through the body and mind, McGregor has remained at the forefront of contemporary arts for the past 20 years.

Nine dancers perform McGregor’s unique style – sculptural, rigorous, jarring and hauntingly beautiful. He is accompanied by a team of artists including long-time collaborators such as lighting designer Lucy Carter and filmmaker Ravi Deepres, along with costumes by the designers of wearable technologies, Studio XO, with neo-classical ambient composers A Winged Victory For The Sullen providing the score. For a segment of the performance, audience members will be invited to wear 3D glasses, as TV screens appear on stage behind the performers in this futuristic production which integrates technology with live action.
Company Wayne McGregor is a Resident Company of Sadler’s Wells and winner of the South Bank Show Award for Dance, The International Theatre Institute’s Award for Excellence in International Dance, The Movimentos Award and the Critics’ Circle Award.
Wayne McGregor CBE is a multi-award-winning British choreographer and director. He is Artistic Director of Studio Wayne McGregor, the creative engine of his life-long choreographic enquiry into thinking through and with the body. Wayne McGregor is also Resident Choreographer at The Royal Ballet, where his productions are acclaimed for their daring reconfiguring of classical language. His work can be seen in the repertories of ballet companies around the world including Paris Opera Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, San Francisco Ballet, The Australian Ballet, New York City Ballet and The Bolshoi.

McGregor’s work has earned him four Critics’ Circle National Dance Awards, two Time Out Awards, two South Bank Show Awards, two Olivier Awards, a prix Benois de la Danse and two Golden Mask Awards. In 2011 McGregor was awarded a CBE for Services to Dance.
