I\u2019ve made several posts recently about an adventure I undertook in northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. This week I\u2019m south of those foothills and am on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.<\/strong><\/p>\n It is cold.\u00a0 It is cold in Alabama and it is cold in Mississippi!\u00a0 We drove seven hours in the warm, late fall sun, arriving at our Mississippi rental house shortly before dusk. By the time we had dinner it was dark.\u00a0 By the time we finished buying supplies for our stay on the coast it was pouring rain in a thunderstorm with \u00a0nearly gale force winds.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n After a night of lightning, thunder, pounding rain and noises from windblown objects, we woke up to a cold, damp morning.\u00a0 A blustery north wind kept outdoor activities off our list.\u00a0 Watching the waves on the Bay Of Saint Louis as a Small Craft Advisory was in effect meant viewing dancing water with no boats in sight.\u00a0 But breaking bread with seldom seen friends, sharing a beer or glass of wine while we caught up on each other\u2019s lives warmed our spirits.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n Yes. It\u2019s cold on the coast, hundreds of miles south of those northern Alabama foothills.\u00a0 But it\u2019s not as cold, the cold will not last as long, and breaking bread with friends in the warm, diffused light of a beach house cannot be beat!<\/strong><\/p>\n
