
{"id":777,"date":"2022-03-03T06:00:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-03T06:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/?p=777"},"modified":"2022-03-03T00:59:53","modified_gmt":"2022-03-03T00:59:53","slug":"travel-anxiety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/2022\/03\/03\/travel-anxiety\/","title":{"rendered":"Travel Anxiety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-778\" src=\"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/2021-09-17-016SqCrpRzClSmFxkkmOAM-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/2021-09-17-016SqCrpRzClSmFxkkmOAM-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/2021-09-17-016SqCrpRzClSmFxkkmOAM-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/2021-09-17-016SqCrpRzClSmFxkkmOAM-100x100.jpg 100w, https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/03\/2021-09-17-016SqCrpRzClSmFxkkmOAM.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I have family members who almost never travel and others who are constantly traveling.\u00a0 I used to travel much more than I do now.\u00a0 I enjoyed it.\u00a0 Travel meant a visit to family far away or a vacation to the beach.\u00a0 I love the beach!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>But then something happened.\u00a0 Travel became too much trouble.\u00a0 Too much work.\u00a0 Too much anxiety to deal with.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>When did traveling become more work than it\u2019s worth?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I quit flying after 9\/11.\u00a0 Not because I was afraid of dying in a plane crash.\u00a0 I quit because of my anxiety of being pulled aside, felt up, searched, x-rayed and delayed or a myriad of other concerns because of the faux security of the TSA.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Not flying meant trains, buses or road trips.\u00a0 I\u2019ve heard enough stories from friends about bus trips to cross that transportation off of my list.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>That leaves trains and road trips.\u00a0 As I get older road trips become somewhat painful.\u00a0 My back will only take so many hours sitting in basically one position.\u00a0 And I am too impatient to get where I\u2019m going to break up a 15-20 hour trip into a two or three day trip, only traveling a few hours a day.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I\u2019ve lost my passion for adventure and the journey.\u00a0 It\u2019s now \u201clet\u2019s just get there!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Packing!\u00a0 Oh me oh my, what to pack!\u00a0 I almost always take too much and not the right clothes when I travel.\u00a0 That\u2019s another frustration.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Evidently I am not a good traveler anymore.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I am planning a vacation trip as I write this post.\u00a0 Departure (by pickup truck) is less than three days away and already my mind is screaming, \u201cWhat the heck am I going to wear?\u00a0 I don\u2019t have enough nice clothes for a week\u2019s stay!\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>There\u2019s also the dread of a seven to eight hour ride and having to drive the truck instead of my vehicle when I want to go somewhere different than the hubby.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>I know that I need an attitude adjustment even before I start to pack but that is easier said than done.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fun, adventure, stinky oxygen filled marsh air and the sound of waves waiting for me.\u00a0 Those are the things I need to be concentrating on to adjust my thinking.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Here\u2019s to dwelling on the positive, keeping up with my yoga stretches for my back, and taking jeans and t-shirts to wear &#8212;
