That neighbor and I, whose name is also Kathy and also spelled with a K, had originally planned a weekend beach trip but a day trip was taken instead since she was not physically up to an entire weekend of activity. It was only a few days after our trip that Kathy became very ill. She was treated aggressively for her illness and suffered greatly from those useless treatments.

I moved hundreds of miles away several months after that September 2025 blog post.

I settled into a rental that was walking distance to the beach. The city I moved to is the beach city that Kathy and I were going to visit when we originally planned to take a weekend girl’s trip. I lived in that city before I moved to Alabama where I met Kathy and where she lived. She and another neighbor from Alabama had even driven to that city several years ago to attend one of my birthday parties.

Several times when I was enjoying the view of the water and the softness of the sand under my feet I called Kathy and told her I was looking forward to her coming to visit when she got better.
