Twas the day of the new year and all through the house<\/strong> The New Year\u2019s Resolutions were already made<\/strong> My spouse was all comfy snuggled up in the bed<\/strong>
\nNot a creature was stirring, not even my spouse.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nThe bills from this past Christmas already paid.<\/strong><\/p>\n
\nWhile snoring so loudly it really hurt my poor head.
\n<\/strong>
\nWhen there in the kitchen while making my tea<\/strong>
\nI dropped the pot and it hit my knee.
\n<\/strong>
\nAway to the bathroom I flew in a flash<\/strong>
\nTore open a bandage then looked at the trash.
\n<\/strong>
\nThe light on the trash can made the tissues inside<\/strong>
\nLook a lot like that litter that you find roadside.
\n<\/strong>
\nThen what in the world did my eyes both spy<\/strong>
\nBut my sleep walking spouse yelling, \u201cYou surely must cry!\u201d
\n<\/strong>
\nWith a bedhead hairdo and her nightgown all wet<\/strong>
\nI knew right then that I had lost last night\u2019s bet.
\n<\/strong>
\nI bet her a breakfast served right in the bed<\/strong>
\nThat she would awaken and look great instead.
\n<\/strong>
\nShe raised up her arms and then she hollered<\/strong>
\nAll her friends names as she unladylike slobbered.
\n<\/strong>
\nSo back to the bed and warm covers she went<\/strong>
\nTo sleep more than usual and be content.
\n<\/strong>
\nAnd then in a twinkling I heard on the roof<\/strong>
\nThe sound of the snow sliding down with a poof.
\n<\/strong>
\nMy tea was forgotten and breakfast delayed<\/strong>
\nWhile I joined my dear spouse in the bed she had made.
\n<\/strong>
\nI looked out the window at this year\u2019s first snowfall<\/strong>
\nAnd then closed my eyes and said, \u201cHappy New Year to all!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
