
{"id":1551,"date":"2024-11-21T06:00:43","date_gmt":"2024-11-21T12:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/?p=1551"},"modified":"2024-11-20T13:27:42","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T19:27:42","slug":"awol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/2024\/11\/21\/awol\/","title":{"rendered":"AWOL"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1553\" src=\"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/11\/AWOL-Image-Rz.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/11\/AWOL-Image-Rz.jpg 500w, https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2024\/11\/AWOL-Image-Rz-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>AWOL is an acronym that stands for Absent Without Leave.\u00a0 Originally it was used by the military to describe a soldier that had either abandoned their post or never showed up for duty.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eventually this acronym was adopted in civilian life to describe someone who was missing from a scheduled appearance, for example a person who never arrived at a party with no prior notification about their absence.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>When I decided to write about my nonexistent entry last week this term came to mind.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>However, was I really AWOL?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Doesn\u2019t the term suggest that the \u201cabsent\u201d person would be missed?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Did anyone miss the lack of my blog entry last week?\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s okay if no one missed it.\u00a0 Life is hectic.\u00a0 Many people are competing\u00a0 for your time and attention.\u00a0 I get it.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Besides, posting every week is not done because anyone expects it or heavily suggested that it was something I was supposed to do.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Posting a blog entry once a week is one of the ways that I can journal about professional or personal activities. In addition, posting a blog entry each and every week is a matter of discipline.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>None of us are perfect, sometimes life gets in the way of our regular routines and occasionally we need to take a break from those routines.
