
{"id":1234,"date":"2023-11-30T06:00:52","date_gmt":"2023-11-30T12:00:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/?p=1234"},"modified":"2023-11-17T14:22:33","modified_gmt":"2023-11-17T20:22:33","slug":"fairy-at-the-fair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/2023\/11\/30\/fairy-at-the-fair\/","title":{"rendered":"Fairies At The Fair"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1235\" src=\"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/2023-10-29-038SqCrp2OSNRospfxRzClrtyKAClOAM-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/2023-10-29-038SqCrp2OSNRospfxRzClrtyKAClOAM-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/2023-10-29-038SqCrp2OSNRospfxRzClrtyKAClOAM-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ourartsmagazine.com\/kathykmcclellan\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/11\/2023-10-29-038SqCrp2OSNRospfxRzClrtyKAClOAM.jpg 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>When I suggested that we visit the Official Alabama Renaissance Faire my husband asked me what to expect.\u00a0 Neither of us had ever been to one of these festivals but I had seen images on television and in print.\u00a0 Thinking that I knew what these fairs were all about I told him that the exhibits and characters would be representative of ages past (mostly the 1300s or1400s through the 1600s). <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>After entering Wilson Park in downtown Florence, Alabama we came upon the main stage area where characters were dressed as this year\u2019s Queen, Queen Consort and Royal Steward and Herald.\u00a0 The Queens were seated while eating a snack.\u00a0 The Royal Steward stood watch over the two of them.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>We passed the stage area and strolled through the park passing vendors, demonstrations and costumed characters.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>There were Blacksmiths demonstrating their work, musicians, Belly Dancers and an entire block of food vendors lined up on one of the streets surrounding the park.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Almost reaching the food vendors we saw a booth where the vendors were selling pointy ears.\u00a0 We had already passed several visitors trying to put them on over their own ears.\u00a0 My husband turned to me and said, \u201cWhat\u2019s with the ears?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s a little embarrassing to admit this, but I had to tell him that I didn\u2019t know.
