Inserting Images

We understand the site can be hard to get around. Or perhaps you cannot find how to change your headshot. This space is for main site help with posting your articles, down to getting forum notification.

Please note we do have a large FAQ which you can see in the top menu.

Anyone helping in here is doing so voluntarily and expects and deserves your respect. Thank you.

Inserting Images

Post by Ludwig-Keck » Tue Jan 02, 2018 9:54 pm

How to insert images in posts and comments here.

The editor here offers the little picture icon. When you click it you get a pair of img tags. That is a place to add the URL of an image, not an option to upload a picture. So you must have stored the image somewhere on the internet. There are many places for your photos. Your photo must be public, but if you just want to share it here, it should be "out-of-sight". Photo sharing sites abound, but they don't work well for this particular use. Here is an example using a Flickr image:

The best way to have an image on the internet, that is "public" but totally obscure, is to have it in WordPress Media Library. Not on this site! The Media Library here is for images that go into public post, magazine articles. Use your own WordPress site. A WordPress account is free and comes with storage space for several hundred images (of 1000 to 1600 px size). Using the URL from there - it is displayed in a box with each image - is easy and works well. Here is a demo:
